WORDS HEAL AND WORDS HARM
Words heal and words harm. Enough of all the propaganda and lies. One side is offering a new start. The other side offers more lies, more divisiveness, taking us backwards as a nation, and stealing more of our hard-won rights. Let’s agree on the way forward. Taking action, by voting in overwhelming numbers. Ending the gun violence epidemic in the United States. Protecting women’s healthcare rights. Saying yes to the party that understands the Climate Crisis. Protecting voting rights for all. Why do they lie, in a way that seems as easy as breathing? Why are they so obviously divorced from reality? Irreconcilable differences? Countless members of their party have quit the party, and said I’m voting for the Democratic presidential candidate. People have risen up and have clearly said, enough is enough. The shifting falsehoods keep rearranging themselves. It’s not a lie, it’s a story. Oh, he just made up a story. Except, they aren’t supposed to be making the world, the country, or any region of the country worse. It’s not the job they are applying for. They don’t understand the assignment. They definitely aren’t supposed to be actively making an entire town afraid to send their children to school. All they have to sell is fear. Here’s the thing. No one’s buying it anymore. No one with an open heart and mind. It’s time to make this city, country, world a better world. Top to bottom. Inside to outside. Let lies be small, and untroublesome. Like, What did you have for lunch? Tuna. No, it was salad. Not an ongoing barrage of dangerous lies that produced numerous bomb threats. Lies that used to be meaningless now carry danger, violence, racism, ignorance. Once you give in, the lies infect your brain. Lies amplified and not admitted to can become deadly. Often repeated lies that harm whole communities, and afterwards casually called “stories” make us worse as a culture. Untruths based on nothing but wanting to stir up a mob can lead to people being killed. As we already know. Why should anyone believe a single one of their recycled lies, poured into a flimsier container?
