In the Near Future, today is yesterday’s tomorrow. The Zeitgeist will say gesundheit, and make you a pot of Lemon Balm tea. The psychedelic light shows will get in-sync with the Eyeball Telepathy devices. Lava Lamps shall be the coolest retro new thing, as people join a planetary movement based on becoming consciously attuned with a newly discovered galaxy. The crows sound like they’re screaming, and the dogs are most assuredly dreaming, with paws a-twitching. And me, I’m divorced from Reality. Irreconcilable differences. I thought it best to remove my psyche from a culture intent on worshipping the worst it has to offer in the way of inhumane human beings. Just a lotta so what, who cares, and we’re fine with all this. As long as reality is a fluid concept, it’s official. Those who’ve chosen to divorce ourselves from reality get to live in whatever new world we can create, build, discover, grow, imagine. Top to bottom. From inside to outside. Everyone’s doing it. If truth has no inherent meaning anymore, might as well lock the door to day-to-day reality and throw away the key. On the other hand, there’s no point in just giving up. Is there? When someone comes along and shouts countless lies at you, and wants to wipe out your reality, freedoms, personhood – the odds are you’re going to stand up and say no, I don’t think so. As a starting point, I suggest you believe in the Near Future. The Near Future we’re building together. It’s so close we can reach out and touch it. It’s ours for the making and the taking. In the Near Future, we’re holding hands and walking along streets saying no to more prolonged madness and ongoing chaos. The Near Future has turned into a pathway to the sky, leading to a curtain-like parting of the golden-hued evening clouds. You’re listening to the voice in your head that says, “Building a better tomorrow starts today.”
