THE LAST GASP OF BOTHSIDESISM
When a Nazi salute is given on a presidential inauguration day, and what’s left of mainstream media tries their damndest to bothsides it, that all folks. Put a fork in bothsidesism. It’s done.
If the media is set on trying to gaslight us about an event everyone saw, in either live footage, or in photos – showing a globally known figure, clearly, unmistakably giving the Nazi salute – nobody with eyes to see is buying it.
There’s no wiggling out of this one.
In a “nothing to see here people, move along” style of tying themselves into pretzels and trying to tell us we didn’t see what we saw, the press has officially declared itself incompetent to deal with this historical moment. They are also showing us they’ve become willfully ignorant, willfully compliant, or willfully complacent about truth and accuracy.
The mainstream media is not the least bit interested in reporting the basic facts of where we are as a country.
The Nazi salute happened. On day one. It’s been recorded as a part of the shameful history of these times. Along with full-blown, bought and paid for, media compliance and obeying.
True, bothsidesism is what the media has been doing all along. So, been there, done that. But not quite. This is different. This is an inflection point in history. What’s also called a Hinge of History. If mainstream media journalists can’t drink enough coffee to wake up to the fact that they should clearly and factually report what’s real, happening, and is actual history in in the making – what’s the point of pretending to write news?
The mainstream media are proving their uselessness to our culture at this point in time. They are signaling that they’ve reached the end of a form of public communication that used to be meaningful in our culture. Moving ahead, no one needs to pay much attention to any of them, ever again.
The old “who are you going to believe, me, or your own lying eyes” bit is stale. Especially when tried on an overly informed populace with access to a 24/7 news cycle. Our bullshit detectors have been high alert for the past two decades.
The meaninglessness of the mainstream press is complete. Freedom of the press to report the actual factual truth is gone, dead, and buried.
So long to a bygone era. In the media. And in America.
