Paul Klee and Van Gogh
Paul Klee was having a glass of wine with Van Gogh,
in a side street café in Paris. After downing a few glasses,
Van Gogh was in an exuberantly maudlin mood.
He began talking about his lack of buyers, his lack of love,
his lack of an earlobe. Paul Klee nodded and pointed out into
the Parisian café, full of revelers. Klee said, “Vincent, look…”
Van Gogh nodded, and wept into his wine. Then Vincent said,
“These comets look so lovely, skittering about so.”
