We’re just not numbed out enough. Clearly, this is the tippity-top layer of society’s central issue with us. A more profound numbness is necessary, to make us too distracted to think deeply, for us to survive the toxic particles in the air, shrug off the soupy cauldron of lies dished up for dinner at the local diner. A deeper level of numbness felt within our chests will enable us to live through the muck and sludge of everything heaped on us by potato-faced liars we’re wasting our hearing upon, the zombies who don’t believe in reality, drooling on the fresh produce at the corner grocery stores, the air outside thick enough to gobble down like mid-twentieth century slimy to the touch cheese products. One gets the idea a pterodactyl will blast through a rip in the sky through space and time and swoop toward us with its pointed beak aiming to skewer our pinkish-gray intestines. We’ve barely moved out of its way in time, and the prehistoric reptile-bird has already moved on to another dimension. We’re begging for a more profound and all-encompassing numbness. Wanting only to awaken and greet the day with a vapid grin while snorting Vicks VapoRub. Numbed already by the cheapest narcotics around, unfiltered cigarettes and YouTube video clips. Only one of them is sure to kill us it’s just going to take a while. A more profound numbness is our birthright. We are owed this much. We’ve lived through the turning of the century, the re-tuning of the cosmic clock, and we’ve arrived in this murky post-historical moment. Earned every numbing gummy edible moment we can manage to consume here at the edge of the continent. While the world burns and floods and the lunatics high on the hill steal any sense of freedom, we’re ready to be more profoundly numbed-out so we can deal with this madness with an awesome degree of hyper-clarity. We demand the most profound mind-numbingest stuff you can serve us, here at this wooden shack of a diner teetering on the cliffside overlooking the vast blue Pacific, as we’re always one numbed-out moment away from pure bliss or a wonderfully visionary idea that’ll change our lives and the day we’re living in, loving and cursing this historical time period we’re enveloped within.
