Those people who die for a few minutes, who think they are about to start a long dirt nap, and then miraculously return? What’s that all about? One’s gotta wonder. Some people think about their next drink, a sweet smooch, vacationing in a semi-tropical border town. I think about those momentary white-lighters. People either lucky or doomed enough to witness a glimpse of the Afterlife. Every single one swears they’ve been there, for a brief moment – they traveled to the far side of the universe and were then somehow snapped back by the longest invisible rubber band anyone’s ever seen. An experience like none other. Here, there, alive, dead. Sure, life can stun you. But, come on. There’s got to be nothing more stunning than seeing through to the Other Side. It’s enough to make you believe in make-believe stuff, like the creatures and weird goings on in fairy tales. Me, I’m seeing more strange events happening to the populace of Raintown, since death is a side street away, these days. I’ll tell you all about visiting the Other Side. It opens up the mind, declutters the gray matter. Maybe even adds some life to your years. Go ahead, curl your lips into a smile. You see, I’ve already been there and lived to breathe another day. Yep. Already dead. And I can tell you tales. Make yourself comfortable. Can I buy you another one?
